Overview of China's Public Holidays

• Spring Festival (Chinese New Year)

• Qingming Festival (Tomb-Sweeping Day)
  Qingming is one of the 24 solar terms in the traditional Chinese calendar, marking the arrival of spring. It usually results in a 3-day consecutive holiday.
• Labor Day / May Day
  It usually results in a 5-day consecutive holiday.
• Dragon Boat Festival
  The Dragon Boat Festival falls on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month. It typically results in a 3-day consecutive holiday.
• National Day
  A holiday commemorating the founding of the People's Republic of China. It usually results in a 7-day consecutive holiday.
• Mid-Autumn Festival
  The Mid-Autumn Festival is celebrated on the 15th day of the 8th lunar month. It typically results in a 3-day consecutive holiday.

The national flag of China is known as the "Five-star Red Flag." The large star symbolizes the Chinese Communist Party, and the four smaller stars symbolize the four social classes: the working class, the peasantry, the urban petty bourgeoisie, and the national bourgeoisie.
