• Commonwealth Day
  Commemorates the formal inauguration of the Government of the Northern Mariana Islands on January 9, 1978, which established its status as a commonwealth of the United States.
• Birthday of Martin Luther King, Jr.
  Honors the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., the leader of the American civil rights movement.
• Washington’s Birthday (Presidents' Day)
  A day to honor George Washington, the first President of the United States, and Abraham Lincoln, the President who issued the Emancipation Proclamation.
• Commonwealth Covenant Day
  Commemorates the signing of the Covenant to Establish a Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands in Political Union with the United States of America on March 24, 1975.
• Holy Friday (Good Friday)
  The Friday immediately preceding Easter. A holy day dedicated to remembering the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ.
• Memorial Day
  A day dedicated to mourning and honoring all military personnel who died while serving in the United States Armed Forces.
• Juneteenth National Independence Day
  Commemorates the emancipation of enslaved African Americans following the end of the Civil War.
• Independence Day / Liberation Day
  Saipan celebrates July 4th with a dual significance:
  • Commemorates the U.S. Declaration of Independence on July 4, 1776.
  • Commemorates the liberation of Saipan by U.S. forces from Japanese military rule following the Battle of Saipan, which concluded around July 9, 1944.
• Cultural Day / Columbus Day
  Commemorates the landing of Christopher Columbus in the Americas, while celebrating local cultural heritage.
• Citizenship Day
  Commemorates the historic day (November 4, 1986) when the residents of the Northern Mariana Islands officially granted U.S. citizenship.
• Veterans Day

• Thanksgiving Day
  A holiday commemorating the first harvest celebrated by the Pilgrim Fathers who migrated from England in 1620.

The flag of Saipan (Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands) features a blue field centered with a white five-pointed star superimposed on a gray latte stone (traditional stone pillar), surrounded by a local decorative flower garland (mwarmwar). It was adopted in 1976.
