The national flag of South Korea is called the "Taegeukgi". The central circle consists of two colors representing the Taegeuk, with red and blue expressing the Yin and Yang. The four trigrams in the corners represent the卦 (Gwae). The design is based on the Confucian theory of cosmic creation. Adopted on October 15, 1949.
