Overview of Vietnam's Public Holidays

• Tet (Lunar New Year)
  The most significant annual celebration in Vietnam, marking the arrival of spring according to the lunar calendar. It typically features extended multi-day official holidays for family reunions.
• Hung Kings Commemoration Day
  Observed on the 10th day of the 3rd lunar month, honoring the legendary Hung Kings recognized as the founding fathers of ancient Van Lang.
• Southern Liberation Day (Reunification Day)
  Commemorates April 30, 1975, marking the end of the Vietnam War and the reunification of the country following the fall of Saigon.
• National Day (Independence Day)
  Commemorates President Ho Chi Minh's declaration of independence in Hanoi on September 2, 1945. The government designates an adjacent day to create a two-day public holiday.
• Culture Day (From 2026 onwards)
  Commemorates President Ho Chi Minh's address at the First National Cultural Conference on November 24, 1946, highlighting culture as a vital spiritual foundation for national development.

Vietnam's National Flag & Anthem

National Flag

The national flag of Vietnam, known as the "Red Flag with a Gold Star," features a large central five-pointed yellow star on a red field. Red symbolizes revolutionary passion and sacrifice, while the five points represent workers, peasants, soldiers, youth, and intellectuals. Adopted by North Vietnam in 1955, it became the official flag of reunited Vietnam in 1976.
