• Founding of the Republic of China
  Commemorates the establishment of the Provisional Government of the Republic of China on January 1, 1912, as well as the arrival of the New Year.
• Lunar New Year (Spring Festival)
  Marks the traditional turn of the lunar calendar year. It is celebrated as the most significant annual family gathering period, spanning multiple consecutive days.
• Peace Memorial Day
  A solemn day dedicated to remembering the victims of the February 28 Incident of 1947, promoting national reconciliation, human rights, and peace.
• Children's Day
  A statutory public holiday designed to honor children and express appreciation for their growth, granting a day off for adults and children alike.
• Tomb Sweeping Day (Qingming Festival)
  Occurs on one of the 24 solar terms, serving as a traditional occasion for families to pay respect to ancestors by cleaning tombstones and making offerings.
• Dragon Boat Festival
  Observed on the 5th day of the 5th lunar month, featuring traditional dragon boat races, the consumption of rice dumplings (zongzi), and customs to ward off evil spirits.

  Commemorates the end of Japanese rule over Taiwan in 1945 alongside the defense of Kinmen during the Battle of Guningtou in 1949.
• Constitution Day
  Commemorates the formal adoption and implementation of the Constitution of the Republic of China on December 25, 1947.

Taiwan's Flag & National Anthem

National Flag

The national flag of the Republic of China (Taiwan) is known as the "Blue Sky, White Sun, and a Wholly Red Earth." The blue canton represents liberty, the white sun with 12 rays signifies equality and the 12 hours of the day/night, and the red field symbolizes fraternity and the sacrifice of revolutionary heroes. The design reflects Sun Yat-sen's Three Principles of the People.
