Overview of Public Holidays in Poland

Epiphany (Three Kings' Day)
Commemorates the biblical event where the Three Wise Men (Magi), guided by a star, visited Bethlehem to worship the newborn Jesus. This visit symbolizes the manifestation (epiphany) of Jesus Christ to the entire world.
Easter Sunday, Easter Monday
Commemorates the miracle of the resurrection of Jesus Christ three days after his crucifixion. It is the most significant holiday in Christianity.
Constitution Day
Commemorates the adoption of the Constitution on May 3, 1791, which was the first written national constitution in Europe.
Pentecost (Whit Sunday)
Commemorates the descent of the Holy Spirit upon the disciples after the resurrection and ascension of Jesus Christ. This event is said to have occurred on the 50th day after Easter.
Corpus Christi
A Catholic feast day celebrating the real presence of the body and blood of Jesus Christ (the Eucharist), which Jesus gave to his disciples during the Last Supper.
Assumption of Mary
Commemorates the taking of the Virgin Mary into heaven.
All Saints' Day
A day dedicated to praying for all saints and martyrs.
Independence Day
Commemorates November 11, 1918, the day Poland regained its independence from the Russian, German, and Austro-Hungarian Empires after World War I.

Poland's National Flag & Anthem

National Flag

The national flag of Poland is a horizontal bicolor of white and red. White symbolizes dignity, and red symbolizes freedom. The national coat of arms (a crowned white eagle) is sometimes featured in the center of the white stripe.

National Anthem

The national anthem of Poland is "Mazurek Dąbrowskiego" (Poland Is Not Yet Lost / Dąbrowski's Mazurka).
The general theme of the lyrics praises General Jan Henryk Dąbrowski, a national hero and Polish military commander who organized the Polish Legions around 1800 to fight alongside Napoleon.
