Public Holidays in Russia

If a public holiday falls on a Saturday or Sunday, the following working day becomes a substitute holiday. However, when it overlaps with the New Year Holidays, the government may reallocate those days to any other working days throughout the year at its discretion.
If a public holiday falls on a Tuesday or Thursday, the preceding Monday or following Friday is often designated as an additional day off to create a continuous long weekend. In such cases, a nearby Saturday or Sunday is generally designated as a substitute working day.

New Year Holidays
The New Year vacation period in Russia is quite extensive, bridging into the Orthodox Christmas celebrations.
Orthodox Christmas Day
Since the Russian Orthodox Church follows the Julian calendar instead of the Gregorian calendar, Christmas is celebrated on January 7.
Defender of the Fatherland Day
Commemorates the formation of the Red Army (Workers' and Peasants' Army) during World War I. Today, it is widely celebrated as a day to express appreciation for men.
International Women's Day
Originally associated with the events of the February Revolution, this day has largely lost its political connotation and is celebrated broadly as a day to honor women.
Spring and Labor Day
This is the traditional May Day (Labor Day).
Victory Day
Commemorates the signing of the German instrument of surrender, which marked the end of World War II (May 9, 1945, Moscow time).
Russia Day
Commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR) on June 12, 1990.
Unity Day (National Unity Day)
Commemorates the popular uprising that liberated Moscow from Polish occupation forces during the Polish–Muscovite War (1605–1618). This historical holiday, which existed until the Russian Revolution, was reinstated following the dissolution of the Soviet Union.

National Flag

The national flag of Russia is a tricolor. White symbolizes nobility and frankness, blue represents faithfulness and chastity, and red stands for courage and love. Originally the flag of the Russian Empire, it was reinstated as the national flag after the dissolution of the Soviet Union in 1991.

National Anthem

The national anthem of Russia is the "State Anthem of the Russian Federation."
The general theme of the lyrics praises the greatness, beauty, and vastness of the Russian motherland.
