Public Holidays in Switzerland
Switzerland is a federal state consisting of 26 cantons. Swiss National Day (August 1) is the only common nationwide public holiday established by the federal government, while all other public holidays are determined individually by each cantonal government.

The following are days observed as public holidays (or customary days off) in most cantons, making them days off across almost all of Switzerland (◎ indicates a movable holiday whose date changes from year to year.).
They are displayed in green on the calendar.

Regarding Other Regions
In addition to the regions mentioned above, there are other holidays that are observed only in specific localities.
For example, important Catholic feasts such as "Corpus Christi (around June)," "Assumption Day (August 15)," "All Saints' Day (November 1)," and the "Immaculate Conception (December 8)" are statutory public holidays in cantons where Catholicism is predominant, such as Valais and Lucerne (the current five major cities of Switzerland are all located in historically Protestant-predominant regions, and therefore do not designate these feasts as statutory holidays).
